3-5 days in East Sussex, what to see and do?
What's the best time of year to visit, and are there any special events during the year?
-
Sam Araz: This is one of my favourites counties in England. There is so much to see and do if you like history.
Rye is an amazing town and I like the B&B just behind the church. Great breakfasts. Also, there is a pub called the Ypres I think and the food and beer there was always really good.
The coastal towns are good and some still have their castles such as Deal and Walmer which I think are amazing. There are also the old martello towers.
Beachy Head is famous and there is a cafe/hotel there.
I like Romney Marsh and the drive out to Dungeness and of course, the Bluebell Railway at Dymchurch.
The Long Man at Wilmington on the South Downs.
There are also a lot of parks - the Seven Sisters is a collection of chalk cliffs and are amazing...and of course, the White Cliffs of Dover although they are not so white any more.

Where are some good camping spots in Wales? Looking for somewhere away from the crowds and close to some walks and scenery.

PlaneTraveler: I camped in the Brecon Beacon Ranges, part of the Brecon Beacon National Park. The park is quite large and there's a whole number of small, historic towns scattered around the boarder. Ian C: What do you want to know? Could you be more specific with what information you're looking for?2 months ago

Sam Araz: There are some great places to see and visit in the UK - from very well known tourist attractions to hidden, off-the-beat opportunities.
It does depend though on what you want to do, how long you want to stay, if you have a particular area or request, such as beach/seaside, mountains, lakes etc.
Can you be a little more specific.2 months ago

Ian C: I don't think there are any direct routes, so here's what I would do:
1. Catch the tube from Heathrow to Holborn on the Picadilly (blue) line
2. Go from Holborn to Liverpool St station on the Central (red) line (4th stop)
3. Catch the Stanstead express (every 15 minutes) from Liverpool St Station to Stanstead Airport
I would allow an hour to get from Heathrow to Liverpool St Station, and an hour for the Stanstead express. 3 hours to be safe.
You can get a tube map here:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf
There's a travel timetable option for the Stanstead express here:

christina tunnah: Depends on the starting point, but I've always liked the walk along the Thames on the Southbank where you can meander along the restaurants and cafes there, past the Royal Festival Hall, the London Eye and then across the Westminstr Bridge to Big Ben.
Another approach is from Trafalgar Sq through the Mall and Horse guards Parade which takes you past the Churchill War Rooms. Take a left on Great George Street. An alternate route that also starts from Trafalgar Sq is to go down Whitehall, which takes you past Downing Street and right ti Big Ben.3 months ago -

What is the best way from Heathrow to Hull by train?
I need to get To Hull from Heathrow. It will be my first visiting London,I would like to find the full information about my trip to Hull. Thanks!
-
Simon Monk: Mmmm ... I'm not sure I'd recommend the train: just getting from Heathrow to the city centre they charge you some outrageous fee (something like GBP40) and then you'll have to buy the ticket from London Euston to Hull which will probably be another GBP 140+.
If I were you, particularly since you are already at the airport and if you can book early enough in advance, I'd fly on one of the cheap carriers:
http://www.bmibaby.com
http://www.easyjet.com/
http://www.flybe.com/
http://www.jet2.com/
or if you are really desperate: www.ryanair.com
While it might not be as adventurous or romantic (after all, the quality of the food on the trains in the UK has to be one of life's great experiences) it'll be far, far cheaper.
have fun

Rei: I know you Simon Monk!
But I disagree with you.
You should go: Picadilly line from Heathrow to Kings Cross, (under a £5) then an overground train directly to Hull which would vary in cost, but could be cheap if you book in advance.
www.thetrainline.com is the badger.
Train from Kings Cross to Hull will take around 2 hours 40 mins - nice views too if you're doing it by day.
Depending on the time you get into Heathrow, totally doable.3 months ago - 1 person liked this answer
