Looking for a great dest to grab some late sun in either Oct/Nov '12 for a week, it will be getting colder and wetter here in the UK ideas?

Great destinations for some sun are plentiful. Nepal is one of them as you can marvel at the glorious setting sun when it descends from the skies and disappears slowly behind the majestic Himalayan Mountains. It is a sight you not not easily forget. One suggestion, book a hotel room at Sanagot Mountain Resort. This hotel is situated high on a mountain top and the view is spectacular as it is not blocked by any obstructions in all directions. I shall goggle for its contact number later for you. If you love the sun, come to sunny Singapore. We have sun whole year round and we are not known as the Garden City for no reason. We have just opened a Garden By The Bay, an enormous garden enclosure of varied plants, flora and fauna, very similar to your Kew Gardens. Our Botanic Gardens need no introduction as it is the second largest, if the the largest outdoor garden in the world. As for the sun,you can enjoy sunbathing at many of our pristine clean beaches and watch the sunset at your leisure. Other sunny places? Bali, in Indonesia, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, Phuket in Thailand, to name just a few. Have a happy holiday. about 5 years ago

Where in Singapore to learn Taiji

Individual coaching is also available at a cost per hour basis from beginner to advanced/competition level. These classes are taught by accredited professionals or shifu masters known for their Taichi prowess. Sometimes, if you live here long enough, you may encounter frail old men in their nineties, who may appear frail, but you can see from their Taichi moves, that they have decades of practice under their belts, by their fluidity, grace and total mastery of the ancient art. These secular individuals usually practise alone in a public park or reservoir surrounding where it is quiet and peaceful. Watch them quietly from a distance, and after their stint, softly approach them, bring up the subject of Taichi and ask for tips and suggestions on your Taichi progress so far. These kindly gentlemen may impart some powerful, secret and useful skills to you if you are lucky and amiable. about 5 years ago

I will go to Singapore for 2 days, which hotel in the shopping area is a budget hotel?

I am afraid there are no budget hotels in the shopping area as it is an upmarket enclave. All the hotels are first class hotels and have corresponding hotel rates. There are however another shopping area called Little India, that do have budget hotel but as the name suggest, it is the the mainstay of the Indian population. If location is no problem, then I would suggest Little India as your choice. Shopping is available 24 hours at Mustapha Shopping Complex where you can get anything you need similar to our famous Orchard Road, our main Shopping Area. Hope that helps. Have an enjoyable stay here and give us your feedback on your choice of location. about 5 years ago

How late will the food courts in Singapore open?

Assuming you mean arriving late at night, and hoping to find food, you will find all the food outlets at the airport open as it is a 24 hour terminus. You will have no problem getting fed. Alternatively, you can ask the terminus service counter to charter you a airport taxi that can bring you to all the food outlets that operate on a 24 hour basis. There are many such outlets here in Singapore as we are also known as a food paradise besides being a garden city. Many eateries open the whole night to cater to late night nighters, revellers as well as shift workers. Have an enjoyable stay here in Singapore. You will find us a pretty hospitable population. about 5 years ago

May I touch/handle merchandise for sale in Nepal? Will the storekeeper think I am inconsiderate or within my rights as a consumer? Thanks!

Yes you can handle merchandise in Nepal, but it is common courtesy to acknowledge the presence of the vendor by giving a smile and a nod, indicating your desire to touch. Most tourists I have seen do get away with handling the goods without buying and get away with it. If you have built rapport with the shopkeeper, you are more likely to get a discount from the stated price. Try as far as possible to buy from stores that display prices, as, if prices are not displayed, the vendor is free to quote you exorbitant prices if you are a tourist from those of inhabitants. Is business is slow, the vendor may even engage you in English conversation to improve their skill and may offer you char(tibetan milk tea) and invite you into their shops to get away from the sun. You will find Nepalese friendly and accommodating. over 5 years ago

Can i use my international driving license to drive in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia area?

Yes you can but are you aware that KL drives on the left. If your country also drives on the left then there is no problem. Just remember to carry your international driving license with you all the time as you may be checked at occasional checkpoints. Big problem if you do not have it with you. You can be fined on the spot, or taken to police headquarters. So avoid that major inconvenience. almost 6 years ago

Can anyone recommend a clean hotel in Kathmandu that is central to things?

There are many replies to this topic if you care to search below. If central you mean the heart of Kathmandu, then head straight for Themel or better yet, the Kathmandu Hyatt right in the heart of town. All hotels are clean, no shabby ones here as they are meticulously well maintained and amply staffed. Take your pick of the many advertised here. almost 6 years ago
