What is some good accommodation in Seminyak when travelling with children?

Hi Kate In my opinion staying in a villa is the ideal accommodation form for for families.A villa gives you the privacy to be together as a family, while you still can have all the amenities that comes with a hotel room as almost all villas in Seminyak are staffed. With several hundred villas in the Seminyak area, there are villas to suite any budget and especially if you are a large family a villa will often be a cheaper option than a hotel room. Have a look here to get an idea of the villas available in Seminyak: http://www.vilondo.com/seminyak-villas-bali Disclaimer: I am extremely biased on this one as I am one of the founders of Vilondo villas Stefan about 5 years ago

Where is the best place to go Windsurfing in Bali?

Hi Kate I am not a windsurfer and actually it is fairly rare that I see someone windsurfing in Bali. I have seen windsurfers (and quite a few kitesurfers) in Sanur and I know you can rent windsurfing gear in Sanur, so I would say Sanur is among the best spots in Bali. about 5 years ago

How safe are Bali and Java in Indonesia? What are the #1 sites, e.g. temples, etc?

Hi Les Bali is really safe. Of course no place in the world is 100% safe, but I have never felt unsafe in Bali and the Balinese are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. The traffic is probably the place in Bali where you need to be most cautious in Bali as it can be a little crazy sometimes, so if you rent a scooter, remember a helmet. The best known temple in Bali is the Tanah Lot located on a small island just off the coast. It is stunning at sunset, but it also tends to get fairly crowded. Here is a list of some of the most important temples in Bali: http://www.vilondo.com/things-to-do-in-bali/bali-temples/ Another place you should visit is Ubud. It is an inland town and is pretty much the spiritual and artistic Mekka in Bali. The atmosphere is very different from some of the more classic beach towns further South. Stefan over 5 years ago

Is Mt Agung or Mt Batur a better/ more interesting trek in Bali?

Mt. Agung is definitely the most challenging and I would say the most interesting too. You can easily arrange the trip from Bali, so no need to book in advance. If you are going any time soon it is going to be in the wet season, so it might be impossible to climb on some days due to bad weather and muddy tracks, but you probably wont know that until the day before the climb, so its a god idea to have a flexible itinerary. Also if it's possible to climb Agung around full moon that is preferable. If you want a little longer trekking trip I can recommend Mt. Rinjani in Lombok. The normal route is a 3 day trek and the views from the summit are truly spectacular and it is a great trek - can only be done in the the dry season. about 6 years ago

will 12days be enough time for bali and lombok/gillis?

IHi Herculine I think 12 days will be ok - you probably want to stay longer when it's time to leave, but in 12 days you will have time to get around the island:) Another idea for an itinerary could be this one: http://www.vilondo.com/blog/2011/08/bali-itinerary-in-10-days/ over 6 years ago

Is it safe for US citizens to travel to Bali in May since the alleged terrorist threats from March 2012?

Hi Dana I just come back from 6 weeks in Bali and I will return to Bali soon again. The Balinese takes terrorism seriously, and haven taken lots of precautions to avoid another attack. I would say that the chance of running in to some mad man in Bali isn't any bigger than it is almost anywhere else in the world. To be honest, fear of terrorism has never struck my while in Bali and I haven't felt the need to avoid any place in particular - including the clubs. I really hope you decide to go ahead with your plans. Bali is a lovely place with some lovely people and I am sure you will have an unforgettable trip. over 6 years ago
