Traveling around Mongolia for a month in August; best ways for traveling alone, safety, Equiptment/clothing required?

Thank you, for the help. I am deciding between a motorbike and a jeep. And sadly I'll have to buy camping Equiptment when I am there. But thats the end of the world. What about horses? I know how to ride and take care of one. But renting/purchasing? Thanks phil, I'm going to start reading that blog now that I have decent Internet. over 5 years ago

If i have one day free in phuket thailand.... from work, what islands are best to visit for a day tour

Monkey bay is a was horrible. Maya Bay was a beautiful. But do not do a tour, which takes you to monkey bay and a bunch of snorkel spots. Reason being, the snorkeling wasn't that great. Monkey bay was sad. And garbage filled. As for maya bay, they drop you off on the back side since its low season and Unless you can get there when the tide is at its highest. The waves smash you and the 3 dozen other people into the sharp rocks as your funneling your way along these ropes to a ladder. And the you only have an hour or less to enjoy the beach. If you can, rent. Long tale boat for 3,000 to 4,000bt ( Thai dollar ) and get them to take you to maya bay ( best split between 4-6 people ) Koh Phi Phi Don which is the main island. Is an over crowded party island ( give you an example around 10 dive shops in a KM radius) Beach is nothing to rave about. Try long island or the other one that was suggested ( haven't gone to those yet ) over 5 years ago

Is it cheaper to book internal flight within vietnam or shuld I book them before I travel. eg Hanoi to Da nang and Da nang to Hochi minh cit

Take a bus if you can. Pay for the sleeper bus. Longer travel times though. But good way to see the country. The one I just bought from Saigon, Mui Ne, Dalat, Nhe Thrang, hoi an, hue, than Hanoi. Cost around $49 us. The bus was a very comfortable bus and new. Despite one break down. If your restricted on time, then cheaper to book in Vietnam. In the major cities you can go to one of their flight centers and book there easily and cheaper than going through your hotel or an agent. over 5 years ago

Taking IPad to Malawi in August.

Best just go to a phone shop and get a sim card, I was there around 4 years ago. And it was easy getting a sim card for a basic phone for texting and calling. Pretty sure it has gotten a little faster and more reliable as in for a data/3G network. over 5 years ago

Wish to visit other areas other than the normal tourist "highlights".

My experience through Malawi was touristy. As for getting away from the tourist spots. Be careful. Follow your gut. Factories and industries aren't that exciting. Best to get into the country side. Best you can is be friendly and talk to locals over a jug of banana beer. Most will point you in the tourist directions. Malawi is the place for woodcarvings though. over 5 years ago

Activities around Squamish? Visiting in middle of July.

There is a lot to do in Squamish. From Mountain Biking, rock climbing, kite surfing, Camping. You name it it can be done in Squamish. Their slogan is the outdoor capital of British Columbia. It all depends on what you like to do and or try. If you are not into the outdoors, then there are a few little coffee shops. is only a 45 minute drive. over 5 years ago
