As Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers' Statewide Director of Sales, I travel all over Hawaii (and the world,) so it's a good thing I love to travel! It's been a passion since I strapped on a backpack and cruised Europe by myself in 1991. Currently living in Puako Beach on the Big Island's Kohala coast.

It really depends on your tolerance for old hotels needing renovation. I recommend the Palms Cliff House on the Hamakua coast, just north of Hilo. www.palmscliffhouse.com. over 6 years ago
Thinking of moving to the Big Island and trying to decide between Hilo and Kailua-Kona...any thoughts besides wet vs. dry?
Visiting and living on the Big Island are very different things. The first thing to consider is your commute time to work. (Keep in mind gas is roughly $4.50 per gallon.) if you won't be working, then lifestyle -including weather- will be your next consideration. over 6 years ago
They are completely different islands with different "vibes." it really depends what kind of vacation you are wanting to have - what activities, etc. keep in mind Kauai is the furthest north so will be "chillier" and typically gets more inclement weather. over 6 years ago
