What to do for two days in Berlin?

Derek, check out Konnopke's Imbiss, located under the train tracks at the Eberswalder U-Bahn stop. They serve what I think is the best currywurst in Berlin. They also have other dishes if you're not into curry. Regardless, it's super cheap. over 4 years ago

What are the off the beaten path "must-see's" in Munich & Berlin?

In Berlin, it's worth heading north to Oranienburg to visit the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. You can get there by S-Bahn. On the southeast side, visit the impressive Soviet War Memorial in Treptower Park. If you really want to go off the beaten path from Berlin, consider hopping a train for a day trip to Goerlitz, a town on the border with Poland that is like stepping into a fairy tale. over 4 years ago

Is it safe for an american to travel around europe in a few weeks in light of the worldwide travel alert?

As an American who has traveled to Europe many, many times let me assure you that Europe is extraordinarily safe. I'm comfortable walking through most European cities at night even though I wouldn't do the same thing here at home. Still, there are things you can do to increase your safety. Blend in as much as possible. Dress like a European, not an American. Leave behind your white sneakers, shirts with favorite college or pro sports teams, American flag gear, and fanny packs. As a general rule Europeans don't wear these things and they can draw attention to you and cause you to stand out as an American tourist in an instant. Additionally, learn a few phrases in the language of the country you're visiting, and don't be boisterous, loud, and "typically American." My efforts to blend in are so successful that I am stopped and asked directions virtually every time I travel to Europe - because I look like I belong there. These tips, along with common sense and being aware of your surroundings, will ensure an extremely safe and enjoyable European adventure. about 4 years ago
