I am going to Switzerland this coming week. What are the top 5 places to visit, to eat and to do?

If you are going to Lucerne then may I suggest you visit the following i.e. 1. The Lion's Monument (has very interesting history about it). 2. Take a relaxing scenic fjordlike lake cruise (approx. 1 hour) with the captain making commentaries on interesting buildings like old castles etc.) 3. Take a cable-car ride to the top of Mt. Titlis (20,000 ft). Ride will take you up with three (3) types of cable-cars. Their food-court also sells good food. You will not regret it. over 6 years ago

Where to hire a car w/ a driver/guide in HCMC for 3 days (Fri, Sat & Sun)? Perhaps a tour agency? Any recommendations?

One good way of getting what you need is by browsing the net for car-rental companies e.g. Budget etc and make enquiries directly. This way, you will get all the facts first-hand and will have peace of mind. Cheers. over 6 years ago

Where would you guys go (traveling alone) if you have 10 days holidays?

Hi Jason, If you like historical facts then Europe is a good place to visit because of the Roman Empire's influence. However, the people that runs the retail outlets have 3rd world mentality. They have no ethics. Be prepared to be "fleeced" . I would strongly recommend you to spend your time in the USA because firstly, language is no barrier. Secondly, the things you buy are more often than not, value for money. The Americans have shown that they are an honest lot in their business dealings be it in food or consumer wares. They are genuinely warm and friendly. Thirdly, you will definitely and surely enjoy your vacation in the USA and it will be money and time well spent. over 6 years ago

What are the best tourist spots in Kota Kinabalu?

Hi Brian, Depending on what you are looking for, if you are the energetic and adventurous type then climbing Mount Kinabalu is a must. Most if not all travel agencies there can make the necessary arrangements for you. Climbing does not need ropes etc because they have a well beaten path all the way up to the top. You only need stamina and a good pair of strong legs. Secondly, if you like the sun, the sand and the sea then I suggest you go to the Tanjung Aru beach which is considered one of the finest in Asia. Last but not least, if you are in for culture and are intrigued by the natives' way of life, make an effort to visit the "Tamus" where the natives gather to sell their wares. You can find strange exotic things on sale apart from the usual fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, meat etc. There is a Sunday market in Gaya Street in Kota Kinabalu held every Sunday and you will definitely find this interesting. Getting to the Gili Islands by public transport

A piece of good advice to all travellers going to Indonesia, please take extra caution with your cash and valuables. It was reported in our newspapers today 08 July 2011 that a family recently visited Bali, an island in Indonesia and when the family were "asleep", their cash and valuables were all taken leaving them with only their clothes on their back. It was reported by the family that when they arrived in Bali after having booked a villa for their vacation, they were all given a welcoming drink in the evening during dinner and they suspected that the drinks were spiked knocking all of them completely out till the next late morning as they were unaware of what happened. over 6 years ago

    Something different in Singapore

Hi Greg, Here's some advice from a true-blue Singaporean. Firstly, never go to either Sim Lim to do your shopping as suggested by some innocent Singaporeans. There are lots of dishonest retailers there! If you want genuine stuff e.g. electronic goods, computers etc. go to Funan Shopping Mall. It's a shoppers' paradise for such goods. Lucky Plaza at Orchard Road is another "give it a miss" shopping centre. Same as Sim Lim Tower/Square (2 buildings nearby each other). Now, for places of interest, we now have Resorts World Sentosa, a world-class casino with entertainment for the family (Universal Studios) etc., We also have Marina Bay Sands, another world-class casino/entertainment/shopping/F&B etc., Last but not least, we also have the Singapore Flyer (similar, if not better, than the Eye in London). One good way of seeing the whole of Singapore in comfort and style is by travelling (North/South/East/West) on our MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) trains which is air-conditioned, clean, and most stations it stops at are all shopping malls which offers good food & affordable shopping. Have a wonderful stay in Singapore Greg. over 6 years ago

Is it safe to travel to Indonesia with the nuclear situation in Japan?

For your info, Indonesia is a safe country to travel to BUT never travel alone especially at nights. Shopping is good and cheap due to currency exchange. Never eat or drink anything from roadside stalls. You WILL come down with severe diarrhea/food poisoning and will spoil your vacation. I used to live and work in Indonesia for approx. 9 years.
