With 1.5 days in Beijing, what are the things I 'must see'?

If shopping is your cup of tea, I suggest you visit "Beijing Loo" which is one of the largest malls/longest street I have ever seen and they have many many types of restaurants to choose from. Visit this place ay night and the lights are beautiful. about 6 years ago

Next year will be my 1st time in Shanghai. How many days ? What should I definitely see ?

Shanghai is huge and if shopping is your cup of tea, I suggest you visit "Chee Pu Loo" which is a large shopping area with 4 to 5 large shopping bulidings side by side so you can really virtually shop till you drop and the clothings, leather jackets etc are reasonable in price. Of course you must bargain and walk away if they don't agree with your offer. More often than not, they will drag you back into the shop and agree with your price when you turn to leave the shop. Another way to sight-see by night is to hire a cab from your hotel and ask the driver to take you down all those night markets/street stalls. about 6 years ago

What are a must do in Singapore, there for 3 days over Christmas

Hi Kuben, to also add to David Pethick's contribution, I suggest that you travel round Singapore by the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Trains using the North, South, East and West lines to firstly, get a feel of Singapore. All our trains are air-conditioned, rather new and clean so you can be rest-assured you can travel in comfort. Secondly, make a trip to our Chinatown to get a feel of the real Chinese culture and traditions, next, visit Little India where our local Indians reside to also get a feel of the Indian food and culture, and last but not least, make a trip to Gelang Serai where the local Malays reside also to get a feel of their culture and types of Malay foods. about 6 years ago

Air Asia is the cheapest airline from Indonesia and you can book your ticket online, chhose your seat (pay extra) including an additional 10 kg excess baggage (pay extra) from the usual 20 kg allowed. Air Asia is also reliable as I have travelled with them numerous times and without incidents. over 6 years ago

What are the best swiss watch stores in Luzerne Switzerlan?

I think "Bucherer" is the best watch shop in Lucerne, Switzerland, because this large shopping centre has evrything under one roof. All types of watches, gifts, swiss knives, chocolates etc.etc., The prices here are reasonable if compared to other shops. They even give every customer a free silver tea spoon with "Bucherer" engraved on it. over 6 years ago

What is a quick fix to Bali Belly?

I have lived and worked in Indonesia for many years and have visited many of its islands and cities from Jakarta to Surabaya to JogJakarta to Bandung etc., including Bali and I can verify and confirm that if you are looking for the sun, the sand and the sea, there are many beautiful beaches you can find in Malaysia (Kota Kinabalu), Thailand (Phuket), etc and furthermore, these places are safe and its food are also clean compared to Indonesia's. If you eat the hawkers' foods in Indonesia, it is guaranteed that you will come down with severe diarrhea and vomitting. And if you drink their tap water or consume ice cubes with your drinks, you are guaranteed to come down with typhoid starting with a fever. Furthermore, Bali is also well known for its crimes so why take all these unnecessary risks and regret for the rest of your life ? It is not worth it. Go somewhere which is safe and clean/hygenic. Last but not least, always carry these medicine with you on all your travels i.e. Dhamotil (for food poisoning/diarrhea/stomach upsets) and Panadol for headaches. over 6 years ago

What's the most practical overnight hotel in Jakarta? My fiancee and I are going to Bali and have to stop over at for connecting flights.

Ibis Slipi Hotel is reasonable in price and the rooms are acceptable too. I've stayed there many times and it's also nearby the Taman Anggerek Shopping Mall (by cab from the hotel is safer). This shopping mall is huge and has all types of food both local and international cuisines. N.B. Always get a card (Hotel's name & address) from the reception before you go out just in case you either get lost or the cab driver pretends he does not understand you. Simply show him the hotel's card and your worries are over. over 6 years ago

Could anyone recommend a tour company to travel thru Italy and France with for a couple in there forties

Hi Reggy, Since you are from Brisbane, Australia, try contacting COSMOS' website i.e. travel.cosmostours.com.au My wife and I toured 10 countries in Europe recently on a 27-day tour with 90% Australians in my tour group. I would recommend COSMOS as they are reasonably good but not perfect. Not perfect meaning they will put you up in small family-owned hotels (not 3 or 4 star as expected) more often than not and these hotels do not turn on the air-conditioning saying that they are following its country's rule in conserving energy. (Shouldn't this decision be left to the paying customer)??? Furthermore, check out the gratuity you are expected to pay for the tour director and the driver. Do not let COSMOS make you pay the gratuity when you make payment for the tour which they did to all those 90% Australians who joined the tour. We were asked to pay the tour 4 to 5 Euros each person per day for the tour director and 3 to 4 Euros each per day for the driver. Can you imagine how much this would total up to if your tour group has 40 persons just like mine ? Gratuity payment should be left to individual to make at the end of the tour because it will depend on the quality of service provided by both the tour director and driver but no, COSMOS collected full payments from all those unwary Australians and many if not all were very unhappy with it. I hope my sharing this with you will help you in some small way. Cheers Mate. G'day. over 6 years ago
