Train from Hue to Ho Chi Minh city?

Hi, I took the second class train Hanoi - Hue a few years ago and I live to tell the tale! Actually, I thought it was kind of fun to in such close proximity to the people. However, Raelene is right...the facilities leave a lot to be desired. Simon is also right, Hoi An is very cute. I took the bus for that section so that I could stop off there. My advice is to take earplugs! They play very loud karaoke so if you're trying to catch some zzzzzzs or maintain your sanity it can be tough. Also, I took a cable lock so I could sleep knowing my bag wasn't going to get nicked. Have fun! over 8 years ago

is it safe for a 74 year old woman to travel alone to Marrakesh

Yes! When I was in Marrakesh in 2006 I met a 70-something lady there who was travelling alone, she was staying in my hostel and had only good things to say about her trip. Everything Phil has said is correct. Although there is a fair amount of catcalling from younger guys to younger foreigners (like myself), there was a lot more respect for older women. It's great that you speak French, many of the older gentlemen will happily converse with you or help you out if need be. The majority of men are very nice if you try to show a little interest in their culture. Likewise, women are very friendly too but a little more shy than the men. The Djemaa El-Fna is wonderful, particularly if you are an adventurous foodie. Have no fear! Enjoy your trip! Anna about 8 years ago

What are some good things to do in Marrakesh when it is raining?

I really enjoyed going to the baths with all the locals. It depends how bashful you are though! I'm sure there are plenty that cater to travellers as well. almost 8 years ago
