I am renting in San Miguel de Allende 2/1/2017 - 4/30/2017. I am considering driving down from the United States. Suggestions?

There's nothing like a road trip! But it is a long way, so be prepared for that - allow plenty of time, don't rush, and make plenty of rest stops. Depending on your route you could pass through some of the more dangerous parts of Mexico where drug gang activity continues. Tourists are very, very rarely (if ever) deliberately targeted, but if you stumble into a deal going down it could be bad. Plan your route carefully. Mexico has an extensive, good and relatively cheap bus network, and there's a lot of fare competition between internal airlines. World Nomads went to San Luis Potosi a year back, have a look at this video on staying safe on Mexico's roads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAwI8Vlh6Z0 over 2 years ago

Want to take ferry from Naples port to Capri, any advice?

It's super easy, plenty of ferries every day from the terminal in Naples. If you're going at peak travel times (summer) it's advisable to buy your ticket ahead of time because the popular times fill up fast. Go down the day before and buy the ticket for the next day. I was there last summer, caught the ferry from Positano. The main harbour and Annacapri (the town up the funicular) is great, but explore the other side of the island too. Beautiful. I have mosquito wipes with DEET and will be purchasing sun tan lotion after I arrive in the Yucatan. Is there an issue using both?

The sunblock or DEEt question is answered here: https://www.worldnomads.com/travel-safety/sunblock-or-insect-repellent-first Re applying it to your clothes: the medical and scientific advice is to apply the insect repellent directly to your skin. You can buy clothing impregnated with insect repellent too.
