How can I get to the Lijiang River?

Yes, just visited the Li River area in September. We stayed in YangShuo. It was the best spot I have been to in ages. The river scenery was stunning! We did 2 river trip on bamboo rafts, some bike riding and some cooking classes. They were all excellent and inexpensive. Lots of good eating there too. It is, however, a bit tedious getting there. Its a 2 hour taxi from Guilin airport. I would take the AirAsia flight from KL to Guilin still..... almost 7 years ago

Book early for EXPO 2010 in Shanghai?

Ha, went there and while I think we had to go because we were in Shanghai................ But such an effort! Hot and so many people and huge queues. The places without queues were not worth the effort. Spent a 1/2 day and went for some beer! Best visit an expo in a small Pacific country! almost 7 years ago

what should I expect in macau?

Stayed at the Venetian last month. It is huge! Macau is a mix of Portuguese and Chinese in the architecture and people. I have visited a few times and its not just the casinos, there are a few scenic and historic places to see. However, it is also a good spot to base yourself for some frantic shopping over the border in ZhuHai. This is well worth the visit! (With an appropriate Chinese visa!) almost 7 years ago

What's the best time of year to visit Yunnan in China?

The spring city of Kunming has beautiful weather almost all year. It just cold (even snow) for a month in Jan/Feb and its hot for another month in mid summer. The rest of the year is 20 - 25 every day. I wouldn't worry too much about the 'wet", it tends to just be a storm that passes through. (There has been a big drought there lately too.) The rest of Yunnan rannges from tropical say in Xishuangbana near Myanmar and colder in the Dali and Lijiang regions. It a lovely place to live and travel. Don't forget the rice terraces down south in Yuanyang. This was an inspiring place...... about 7 years ago

Book early for EXPO 2010 in Shanghai?

I haven't booked yet but just about every hotel is only selling at the rack rate further than 1 month out. Closer in, they are discounting again. I will see if I can hold out. :) about 7 years ago

2000 dallars in Hong Kong money

Getting the best deal when you are changing money is one of my pet subjects. I hate losing money on the transfer! And, the best way depends on which country you are in. about 7 years ago
