What should I expect to pay for a room and food in Prague?

I would say about $20 US per night. I was able to get a private room for $40 US near Vysehrad just south of the city center and easily accesible by tram. Food can vary widely generally around $6-10 for a normal type meal, however avoid the cafes near the astronomical clock in the center since they tend to charge you a lot more for beer and meals. But my Grandmother (who is from Prague) gave me a great recommendation-- go to U Stari Pabi, a hotel, jazz bar and restaurant! about 8 years ago

What are the best pubs in Budapest ?

It's been several years, but Budapest if famous for some lively, courtyard bars including my favorite Szimpla Kert. There are also a few places at Liszt Ferenc Ter. If you happen to be there during the summer, find boat parties in the Danube that are accessible by heading west from Nyugati to the East side of the river on the Pest side. I also highly recommend Rio, on the Buda side-- it's an outdoor club/bar scene. over 7 years ago

I am heading to Portugal in April... Where are the best places to visit?...

I highly recommend Sintra, a small historical city just outside of Lisbon. It's where the monarchy used to live and has a very beautiful castle. Lagos in teh very south is a great coastal party town but very touristed. Still it offers a fun place to meet fellow travellers and do some ocean kayaking by the amazing grottos. about 8 years ago
