Outside of Kathmandu or Pokhara you're probably best to stick to freshly cooked local food, which is generally quite plain eg: dahl baht. Avoid any foods that may have been in contact with un-boiled water. Western style meals may be on offer but the recipes are often..um.. open to interpretation, so what you actually get on your plate may be a bit of a surprise. Chicken meals are usually fine, as the chicken is often killed just for the meal (will cost more than Dahl baht). Yak can be tasty too. In short, use your common sense, look at what others are eating & how it's prepared, and be careful with you own hygiene. over 8 years ago
