I am heading to Chile and Argentina at the end of August and I will arrive to Patagonia around the beginning of October.

Everybody seems to say that it is difficult if not impossible to move around in wintertime. I would like to ask you whether my travel plan is doable? I would like to cross the border at Chile Chico to Los Antiguos, from there continue to Perito Moreno, then el Chalten, then el Calafate and Puerto Natales. Are there regular scheduled buses that do this route? How frequent are they and do I have to book them in advance or I can just show up, wait for departure time?
Same question about Punta Arenas/Ushuaia aerea?
Any suggestion and advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, there ist a bus from Chalten Travel which does the trip Bariloche - Los Antiguos - El Calafate. But most likely from october - april, because of the winter temperatures on the ruta 40.

if the bus isnt going cause of the winter, you can take a plain from Balmaceda (near Coyhaique) to Punta Arenas, (Sky or Lan Chile), from there you can go to the Torres del Paine National Park and after with the regular bus to Calafate. over 5 years ago
