Where are the best spots to get a view of the fireworks in Sydney? Should I get there early, or are there plenty of viewing places? Thanks!

We have tickets to Nielsen Park in Vaucluse so we don't have to wait.

I'd recommend avoiding the lower circulay quay area (directly under the bridge) - it's full of garbage and very drunk tourists. I remember having to wade through trash to get out!

If you have the cash to book somewhere, you're probably better off and won't be stuck with the masses, especially if you have a family with you. almost 7 years ago

You can always try Balmain - less touristy but probably still packed. almost 7 years ago

I turned up to Balls Head Reserve at around 11:30 on NYE 10->11. There were plenty of people but it wasn't at all cramped. It had an awesome view of 2 sets of fireworks, one of those being the bridge.

I thought it was definitely a sweet spot in terms of great view and not being too cramped with people. I'll probably do the same spot next year if I'm around at the time. over 5 years ago
