For a family trip to gold coast primarily for theme parks for the eight year old, but on a budget, we are planning to fly Tiger, stay in one of the beach cabins or apartments around Broadbeach or somewhere between Broadbeach and Tweed Heads, take public transport to theme parks. I need to work a little so am looking at Internet connectivity. Is relying on public transport ok in Gold Coast, is it frequent and good, is airport also connected? What is the right place to stay?

Have a look at goldcoast.com.au for further details on transport which includes public buses and also shuttle services to the theme parks. Definitely a bus to Sea World (at Main Beach slightly north of Surfers Paradise but before Southport) and most probably to the others. Movie World, wet n wild and dreamworld are all further north on the main freeway between Gold Coast and Brisbane. Anywhere south of Broadbeach would be too far south in my opinion. BroadBeach of Surfers Paradise would be the best bet and Surfers slightly closer to where you are going...also roadworks between the two at the moment which may make Surfers easier and closer. Broadbeach is quiter and more upmarket and maybe more for the kids to do closer to Surfers...plenty of accommodation options...maybe look at website for Mantra.com.au or something like wotif or quickbeds...not sure how you will go with free wifi though. Most places will be able to offer theme park tickets but also do some online research as I think there can be some big online discounts and the parks aren't cheap. Gold coast airport is maybe 20kms from Broadbeach and I'm not sure it has free wifi outside of the airline lounges etc...goldcoast.com.au is also worth a look. Cheers about 4 years ago
