I want to organize a 70 th birthday present for partner, and he would love a trip to the Kimberleys. Any recommendations on best way to see the area?. We would prefer an organized tour rather than self drive. Do any other Nomads have experiences with the various tour operators?

There are many organised tours. APT, AAT Kings, just check out the Internet. There are even cruises in the area, starting in Darwin, ending in Broome or vice versa. over 5 years ago

Some of the best bits of our Kimberley trip back in 2003 were elquestro station-lots to do and see but also a really friendly camp atmosphere. And also some of the paths off the beaten track, although I was a little younger I found that all the "tourist icons" like all the gorges and boab trees were very similar (except great for cooling off) however we loved the little hidden walking tracts that involved things like walking through caves and climbing ladders. And finding a rope swing that was typed to a tree over a lake.
It might just be because I was quite young but those are the sort of things that stand out in my mind from the trip.
