Wherever you choose, get there early!

I liked the view from the Rocks because you can see the bridge fireworks from an angle but it's hard to get out with the hoards of people after the fireworks end. Circular Quay has some nice grassed areas where the kids can play while you wait, if you want to have a picnic dinner right there. about 2 years ago

I also find that Darling Harbour tends to be more tame and family friendly than circular quay. about 2 years ago

The Rocks for sure! There are so many restaurants and cool bars you can find around that area with amazing food options. Near Walsh Bay is the Pier One Sydney Harbour hotel that has an outdoor restaurant right on the water over looking the harbour bridge http://www.pieronesydneyharbour.com.au/restaurants-bars-sydney/ They also have a few dinner packeges, hope this helps about 2 years ago

If you want to enjoy the view without the chaos of the city (albeit still busy) look at Mrs Macquarie's chair. Its on the harbour with space for families & picnics :) about 2 years ago
