I don't want to fork out the equivalent price of my air fare but would like something that's not dodgey!
Travel insurance costs vary quite a bit and there doesn't seem to be any pattern. Things to watch are:
Where are you going, including stopovers. (The rates vary by country)
What are the excesses. (They vary on the type of claim)
No medical limit policies are good!
Check that there are no exclusions for sking, diving etc etc
I personally like WebJet's policy as the medical cover is unlimited and there are no excesses. 14 days to Europe is $100 compared with the QF policy at $134 and then add $20 extra for sking etc etc etc....... My health insurance company did policies that were even more expensive! about 9 years ago
Thanks so much everyone for the advice! I ended up going with WebJet as they seemed to cover a bit more than nomads for the same price. Because I'm spending the majority of time in Canada the premium was high (they bundle Canada in with the US as a high risk destination - whereas it'd be cheaper if I was going to the middle east - couldn't quite make sense of that!) Fingers crossed that I won't need the insurance but definitely good to have. Thanks again :-) almost 9 years ago
