I have heard that the algae causes the water to be brown and smelly and not really pleasant to swim in.

What time or times of year does this happen?

Hey there, i live in Noosa and have done so for five years. I don't know of any regular algae blooms! Only once there was a bunch of seaweed for a couple of weeks. But that is it. about 10 years ago

Noosa had the algal blooms for 2 or 3 yrs in a row, and annoyingly this was over the xmas hols when it did happen. the council did a fabulous job of cleaning the beach each morning. the algae hasn't appeared for at least 4 yrs though, and even if it does there are so many other beach areas to enjoy in noosa other than the main beach. about 10 years ago
