I'm passing through Sydney with my English girlfriend in March. We've only two and a half days there, but it would be great to experience some fantastic Australian food on our last couple of evenings in Australia. In particular I'd like recommendations that highlight the awesome seafood that's available in Aus, but any restaurant recommendations appreciated!
For seafood try; Catalina in Rose Bay a highlight is the whitebait with poached duck egg. Icebergs dining rooms at Bondi has it all, great views, scene, food, service, either in the dinning room or more casually in the bar or on the deck. Perhaps my favorite thing to do in Bondi on a hot afternoon is sit on the deck with a glass of champagne and a crab, rocket and aloli sandwich on rye.
On a sunny day its hard to go past Otto on Cowper Wharf at Woolloomooloo. For me it's perfect, Italian but with some sensation seafood stand outs and the location is mesmerising. If you are after somewhere with more of a seafood focus Manta just a few doors down might be for you.
My all time favourite cafe for breakfast or lunch is Fratelli Paradsio, Challis av, Potts Point. The menu changes daily with just a few staples. The calamari St Andrea is one and is a must. There is an adjoining bakery and sometimes you catch them as they make the fresh gnocchi on the marble bench.
For amazing, authentic chinesse with fresh seafood in tanks try Golden Century in China town. For the best peking duck at any hour it's BBQ King.
