I would like to plan a trip to Botswana for a safari and wonder what time of the year (Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall) is best as far a weather goes and seeing the most animals?

Botswana is great for game viewing all year, but the best wildlife spotting comes when the grass is short.... so winter, May-September... which is also dry season, so the animals gather around the remaining waterholes.
And I have a few safety tips for anyone contemplating a safari.

Botswana is good all year round but Winter (may - July) is nice if you can handle a very mild chill. (cold at night but days are usually quite pleasant and mild.)
Spring is also nice (aug - oct). The summer (November - march) is beautiful - espically after the rains in January. However the heat can be quite brutal during that time of the year so come prepared.

September is the end of the dry season so animals are gathering around the water holes that are still left. But the Okavango delta is also dry in many places so it's not so watery and less places to go game viewing by canoe/mokoro. over 5 years ago
