Im not the most well travelled man in Eastern Europe, but Krakow in Poland was great. I thought Prague was overated and too touristy. Ive heard good things about Budapest. The Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) is a great trip! Tallin in Estonia has an old town that you wouldnt believe, Riga in Latvia is heaps friendly and wild parties, and Villnius is very beautiful and interesting. Also check out the statue park in southern Lithuania, some dude took all the old statues from the soviet era and put them in this forest, very eerie.

Also Russia is a place worth venturing too. Perhaps a little too rough about the edges for many trevellers but amazing, I loved it. St Petersburg is gorgeous while Moscow is simply crazy. over 7 years ago

Thanks for the reply. We really wanted to go to Russia and the Baltic states, but we are going in March. Cold doesn't worry me, but I've heard sludge and thaw isn't nice! I'll have a closer look at Poland. over 7 years ago

Agree with the touristy comment about Prague, far too many British stag do's have ruined it for proper tourists and the locals really don't appreciate what has happened these days. Warsaw was amazing, fantastic architecture, friendly people (mainly) and quite accepting of tourists. Definitely worth checking out. over 7 years ago

If you don't want to freeze in March, go to Bulgaria - mild climate, much cheaper than the Baltic states and the Russian federation and a log of stuff to see. over 7 years ago
