how do you avoid the huge cross state surcharges when hiring a car?

    Hi.....In Canada we have provinces....the USA has states. I don't know the answer but if you contact a number of national car rental firms you can find out. All are in Canada....and likely in most provinces. National, Alamo, Budget, Hertz rent a car online for Canada ( so .ca not .com) you can check out the prices for yourself. over 6 years ago

    We rented in Alberta and dropped off in British Columbia and were charged an extra fee. Best to research local Canadian rental companies and compare. We usually try to stay away from the larger agencies when driving local, but when traveling through provinces or states the larger companies usually have better deals. over 6 years ago
