I am going to Shanghai in September and we will spend a day or 2 at Expo 2010. I have noticed that some places have really hiked up their rates. Do we really have to book accomodation early or is that just hype and the discounts will come back later?

Accommodation is always going to be more expensive than usual if there is an important events. i suggest to look for cheap alternatives when travelling during a peak period! www.ctrip.com.cn is a good website for booking accommodations - cheap or expensive ones! almost 7 years ago

I haven't booked yet but just about every hotel is only selling at the rack rate further than 1 month out. Closer in, they are discounting again. I will see if I can hold out. :) over 6 years ago

Ha, went there and while I think we had to go because we were in Shanghai................ But such an effort! Hot and so many people and huge queues. The places without queues were not worth the effort. Spent a 1/2 day and went for some beer! Best visit an expo in a small Pacific country! about 6 years ago
