Yes. Beijing has many shoping malls, and markets.
Open hours: 10am to 10pm normally Mon-Sun
Prices: of course better than Sydney
The silk market(秀水街), and the pearl market(红桥市场) --- these are markets where you can enjoy bargaining.
Yansha Outlets Shopping Center (燕莎奥特莱斯 Address: 北京市朝阳区东四环南路九号)--- good brand clothes & shoes with discount, no bargaining, local people like there
There are many luxury shopping malls like The Place（世贸天阶）, Shin Kong Place (新光天地), Sanlitun Village, etc.

You can certainly find most things that you can find in other big international cities here in Beijing. If you are after real brand names then you will find they might not be cheaper than in Sydney. Personally I would avoid shopping in Ya Show, Silk or Pearl Markets. You will have to bargain very heavily, the vendors can be quite pushy, the places crowded with foreign tourists and I don't find it particularly good value. What kind of clothes are you after? Is it price or quality which are your priority?
If you really want to go where locals shop then I'd recommend the ZOO MARKET (across from the Beijing Zoo). Its HUGE and CHEAP wholesale market but everything is available for retail too. Be prepared to spend plenty of time there and face the crowds but it's really the best value shopping in town if you are patient and prepared to bargain hunt! over 6 years ago
As mentioned earlier, you really want to check out Yashow Clothing market http://goshopbeijing.com/sanlitun-yashow-chothing-market-602.html BUT as someone mentioned earlier, the salespeople in the stalls are really pushy! The first price they give you will probably be more expensive than the real thing (remembering everything in there should be treated as a copy), so, you have to bargain HARD, but with a smile...
If you bargain hard, and double check the quality of everything, then check the quality again BEFORE handing any money over, then you will probably score some great deals on things you will really like.
Remember, once you hand the money over, it's gone, the deal is done. almost 6 years ago
Yes, you can. Today, shops in Beijing are in a great number, scattered in every corner and most of them are taking their brick and mortar shops online. Most of them offer cheaper branded alternatives. And I agree with Charles that Yashow Clothing market is one place you should check out.
The Asian online shopping market is really booming nowadays so you don't have to go as far as Sydney to do your online shopping =) Take the case of a Singapore based online shopping site La Sambuca (here's the link in case you're wondering: http://lasambucalifestyle.com. Their shipping cost to China is 44SGD and I think that's a lot cheaper compare to that cost from Sydney, location wise.
I think by the end of the day, you just need to be wise in choosing the online shop you would want to go for. Happy shopping ;) over 5 years agoAnswered by Sara Tagami via Travellr.com
