I was thinking about visiting Tallinn on my trip to Helsinki as it is just across the sea. Is one day enough to get an impression of the city and to see the sights or should i rather stay over night?

Is one day ever enough to see a city? I dont think so. Although one day is enough to wander around and get lost in time in Tallins old town. The old town in Tallin is, in my opionion, the best old town in Europe. Big call I know. Its not so much huge and awe-inspiring architecture like other old towns, but its all these quirky little streets that are really bloody old and you feel like your in the middle ages. over 7 years ago

I'd rather say it really depends on the weather and the time you come here. yes, if you come here only to get the general picture of Tallinn, one day is enough.

If you're looking for something more then the best time would obviously be during the summer. I'd recommend you to come during the Old Town Days of Tallinn (visit www.vanalinnapaevad.ee for further information). Then I'd recommend you to stay at least 3-4 days because there's really a lot going on around the old town :) almost 5 years ago
