How much money should I take for one week travel to Hong Kong and Macau?
Planning to go to HK and then Macau, and kind of confused about the amount of money to take (excluding hotel, flights)? Mostly planning to do sightseeing - how much for it (not a tour ) and probably shopping (how much for it ?)
ppl say different - some say it is expensive, others say too cheap
will appreciate any answer
thank you in advance

Sightseeing in Hong Kong - to save money buy an Octopus travel pass which allows you access to the tube, tram, ferry etc - all public transport. Great way to get around and very cheap.
You can eat cheaply if you wish - lots of street stalls selling hot and freshly cooked food and some great restaurants (noodle houses etc) where the food is cheap. I tended to pick ones that didnt have an english menu and had lots of chinese people eating.
For dim sum, try City Hall but its very popular.
Hong Kong is good to walk around with lots to do. The museums are great and available.
Shopping can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it. Do you want to buy designer labels? Are you looking to buy cheap knock-offs? Do you want to buy art?
Stanley Market is a good option and for Chinese goods, I bought at the recognised stores. This is a good link for Hong Kong : http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/index.html
So whoever said it was expensive and whoever said it was cheap - they are both right! almost 9 years ago -
