The main favorite stops I loved was the Blue Lagoon or find another more secluded thermal springs pool, the Glacier Lagoon located just southeast of island, Black Beach, of course many awesome waterfalls to see through out the island, and my favorite town and second largest to Reykjavik, is Akureyri, known as the capital of the north, near the famous 66 degrees lattitude and is fishing village overlooking awesome fjord and has whale watching boats, quaint nice shops and restaurants, many of which fairly reasonable, but that whale watching was about $90 USD per person but was most expensive excursion we did and was well worth it; it was so awesome and got to follow a Humpback pod of 4 for 2 hours! And Europe's most powerful waterfall Dettifoss and Godafoss the waterfall of the gods and other amazing sites are located in northern part too. about 1 month ago

    Hi Daniel,

If you want to do something super local and off the tourist trail, I recommend checking out the the rock festival Aldrei fór ég suður in Ísafjörður (lots of great outdoor activities to check out in the area as well).

    Cheers,

Grimsey - you'll sail through the Greenland Sea, cross the Arctic Circle on foot as you traverse Grimsey, see pelagic birds and puffins by the hundreds if not thousands - you can take the Sea Ferry there from Dalvik or Akuyeryi - favorite part of our trip. 15 days ago
