It is because all the houses in old Jaipur that is situated in proximity of forts and palaces were painted pink. The reason why the Jaipur buildings were painted pink was to create a notion that the buildings are made in Mughal red sandstone style. Pink colored painting recalls the red sandstone usage by the Mughal rulers while building the palaces.
