The Vesak (Waisak?) festival takes place at Borobudur on either the 10th or 11th of May 2017. Does anybody know if Borobudur is closed to visitors around that time?
What I mean is, Vesak is open to the public and is meant to be quite the spectacle.
But in the days immediately before or after the festival, is the site open to the public?
I want to photograph Borobudur around the time.
Is Prambanan or any other historic site due for restoration during May?
Hi Peter! As far as I know, there are tours to the temples before and after the festival. If you wishes to visit the temple, you can book a tour early that also has Prambanan tours. Here is a guide: http://travel-tourist-information-guide.com/indonesia-central-java about 1 year ago
