Staying in Dublin for 2 nights, then onward to Galway for 2 nights, then Glendalough for 2 nights and back to Dublin for 2-3 nights before leaving. Any ideas if this is a good itinerary from which to explore surrounding areas? I could do day tours from Dublin & Galway? It's my first time solo traveling and I'm planning on staying in hostels and using public transport too; any advice y'all can give would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Shikha,

It’s a busy schedule for 9 nights, especially travelling by public transport. From Galway to Glendalough is from one side of the country to the other. It’s 3 hours by car with, it appears, no direct bus route, which means changing and that could add more time. Unless you have a pressing reason to go to Glendalough (you could always do a day trip from Dublin if there is), I’d spend more time in Galway and explore more of Connemarra, places like Clifden, Westport, Cliffs of Moher and even take a boat trip out to the Aran Islands which are full of history and you can hear the native tongue spoken as most people there speak Gaelic (and English, of course). Lots of travellers (mainly Aussies) head for Westport for the surfing and the ‘craic’, especially during the northern summer.

    Hope that helps!
