Spending two or more weeks in one location would be a fantastic way to experience Ireland.

If you're renting a car for your time in Ireland, you'll be able to stay anywhere. If you don't, it'll be important to choose locations that have easy access to public transportation and shops.

The coastal counties (especially along the west coast - Counties Kerry, Clare, Galway, or Mayo) are very desirable. However, I'd suggest considering an inland county for part of your stay as well (maybe counties Tipperary, Kilkenny, Meath or Cavan).

Since you're looking for an extended stay, you could consider a "self-catering" stay over a bed and breakfast for some of your travels. Searching for self-catering + your destination will reveal many properties that you can rent (usually for 7 days at a time)... http://www.ireland.com/en-us/accommodation/. over 1 year ago
