May I know what is your budget?
If money isn't a issue, of course staying in the city centre would be very convenient for visiting all the attractions such as the Pantheon, Coloseum, the forum etc. But if you are on a liimited budget, there are some cheap ho(s)tels near termini that would be quite convenient. There is this place called The Beehive and it offers a bed in the dormitory for only 25 euros and is right beside the Termini.
Last time I was in Rome,I stayed in this hotel called the Kolping Hotel Casa Domitilla, it is right beside the catacomb domitilla but the location is a bit far from the city centre. I really liked it as it is clean and provides breakfast and the staffs are very helpful and friendly. almost 3 years ago
