    Well you can buy tickets in advance online here http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/MV_Home.html and save lots of time.
    But as far as I remember that only applies for the museum. Also security is kinda strict specially for St. Peters so what I would recommend is to just wake up early.
    This not only helps you with the lines but also you get to see the places with less people. Oh and wear comfortable shoes, long pants, shirts with sleeves and if you go with a lady no cleavage, this stuff is kinda important to let you in.

    You can try to act nonchalant and sneak in line near the front... it really beats waiting in line, just one draw back... you might end up going to hell. ;0

    The easiest way is to just go early and line up. We went around 6:30 and ended up right near the front of the line... sure it sucks waking up early but its better than standing in the worlds longest line all day. almost 10 years ago
