over 5 years ago about Italy

Which is the best place to visit in Italy during my summer holiday? I have heard a lot about this country but I wonder which is the best city to spend my summer holiday? Any advice will be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Depends on what you are into. Most places are full of history. Rome is great, Florence, Venice so many great places. The scenery on the Amalfi coast and well Northern Italy is fab. Travelling around Italy is easy. I’ve covered many areas by flying between cities but the Train is also good and a travel card covering 21 days (if you have that much time) can be cost effective. over 5 years ago

Italy is not so big but with so many places to visit, it all depends on how many days you have and what you prefer ( historcal places, mountain, sea, lake..). Sicily is beautiful, has history, fun and gorgeous beaches but is very hot in summer; tuscany is somethig, with the historical cities, the hills, hot springs..; in the north there are the lakes( lago maggiore, lago di Como, lago d'iseo, lago di Garda); the castles in valle d'aosta..all the big and famous cities( Roma, Venezia, Torino, Firenze, Palermo, Milano, Trieste and so on..) !! over 5 years ago

I would avoid the main tourist areas in the summer season if at all possible - either there are hoards of visitors, and/or the Italians themselves will be holidaying.

I loved Venice - have been twice, both times in December. A beautiful and romantic city. Liked Verona too but not to the same degree.

If I had the chance, then I would head for the Cinqueterre and do them by train; to Puglia; Tuscany; the Lakes and then cities such as Florence, Milan, Rome. So much choice. over 5 years ago
