Looking for a relatively central, relatively reasonable priced hostel in Tokyo. I know reasonable is a relatively relative term, but I appreciate your help. ;)

Shibuya has some pretty nice little places to stay, and there are always the capsule hotels around if you are up for that. Also there is a pretty good nightlife there. about 6 years ago

I volunteer for Hostelling Int'l, who has several hostels in Tokyo. They have really good standards - clean, no loud partying, etc. Definitely check them out...

I highly recommend Tokyo bnb ( http://tokyobnb.com ). It's a newly open 3bedroom house in the perfect Tokyo downtown location of Roppongi. Much much more convenient than asakusa. The rooms are new, clean and uniquely decorated with Japanese arts. Because of small number of rooms every guest can relax and enjoy their stays. Their rates are also highly competitive. The bnb is run by a friendly and helpful Thai lady who is ready to help you with any question you have about 5 years ago

Tokyo Ninja was great! One train from Tokyo Station and a pretty easy and short walk from there. Friendly and knowledgable staff with a basement hang out room with kitchen and wifi. Clean showers, too. about 5 years ago

Khaosan Ninja is relatively OK for the price:

If you want a more Japanese experience, I can definitely recommend a capsule hotel. Green Plaza Shinjuku is about middle in Tokyo as you can get, the prices are cheap when compared to everything else, and as a bonus you get to use the awesome onsen (Spa) for free on the top floor. Minor nuisance is that you have to empty your locker and capsule every day for cleaning, although there is a luggage room for larger items for free. Also the capsules are not that long, so if you are over 185 cm, your toes or feet will probably come out of the capsule.
