I stayed with an Australian guy at a home stay in Osaka last year that was close to $30 per day. Junko is the name of the lady who owned the place and was very hospitable. It's a small two bedroom condo right inside a little mall/market area...10 min walk to the train station. If I go back to Osaka, I will consider staying at her house again: http://www.homestayweb.com/hosts_details.cgi?H8=111732804 about 6 years ago
