I'm travelling to Jordan in Oct. Is it safe for 2 girls alone? Where all should we go? Also any recommendations for accommodation which is reasonable but safe?

  • There is a general threat of terrorism and demonstrations often take place in Jordan. Though the crime level is low but it can be unpredictable so any tourists visiting should be very careful irrespective of their gender Jackwil80 about 5 years ago

It's very safe.... People are very friendly and nice. But you have to plan your trip in advance. You can always use FourSquare application to look for venues in Jordan! about 6 years ago

Jordan is safe, but things might change depending if the Syria conflict spills over to Jordan more than it already has. There has been some border clashes up north between Jordanian and Syrian forces.
Its easier for girls to travel in Jordan than most Arab contries, but you might still be hassled a bit in really touristy places like Aqaba. Usually no more than the "friendly" whistle or jeer. That said, if you cover up a bit (ie not walking around in bikinis like some tourists) you should be fine. Remember that in the Arab culture it is completely inappropriate for guys to be touchy feely, so if that happens you should tell them off. You'd be respected for it.
Aqaba, Wadi Rum, Petra, Dead Sea, Madaba and Amman are the top spots, but getting off the beaten track is always rewarding. Hotels range from cheap and nasty to gloriously expensive, but all safe.
Easiest way of travelling is getting your own driver, but expect him to arrange excursions/hotels/meals with his friends and relatives, not necesserely what you want. Renting a car and driving yourself is suprisingly easy, and oh so much more fun, although maybe not in the middle of Amman. about 5 years ago
