Just wondering about the most economical way to stay in KL overnight. Whether stay near airport and catch transport into the city. Or whether public transport is so cheap so worthwhile staying in the city.

It depend how long you are there and if you have been before.
If you dont have a reasonable part of the evening in the city I think that staying nearby is good. I stayed with Walter at Jawadene with was reasonably priced and had a Malaysian village eating strip nearby. Nice room and pool to relax between flights. (You need evening time as the shops open late in the morning.)

But, if you have time go into KL and stay in the Bukit Bintang area. Lots of shops, stalls and eating places. Also a great computer building at LowYat. Try the rotti channai with curry sauce at one of the smaller stalls. Down in the basement of the Dept Store there are 100s of shops selling cheap clothes, electronics and stuff. Its a great city to overnight. and top up the baggage with market goods.

    Good Luck

If you were to put up a night in KL (Bukit Bintang) you could buzz me, perhaps I could suggest a few eatery places or local food to recommend?
:) Cheers, and hope you enjoy your short trip here.

Hi Jane, you might want to consider the Tune Hotel at KL LCCT - http://www.tunehotels.com/ (especially if you're flying AirAsia)

It's really close to the LCCT terminal, buses to KL and only costs $10 - $30 AUD a night. I've had a really great experience staying in Tune Hotels in the past.

Otherwise, if you're planning to stay in town, you may want to consider http://hotelsentral.com.my - it's 10mins walk from KL's Central Station and is an affordable business hotel. I believe rooms there start from around $50 AUD.

Enjoy your stay in KL! I'm looking forward to flying there next week. over 6 years ago

The KLIA express only costs about RM70 for a return ticket and it takes only 28 minutes each way, so perhaps the city if you have enough time. over 6 years ago
