I stayed in Tune's Penang hotel (which was good value) and I've heard their KL one is similar albeit a bit more expensive.

However, as Wendy suggested, Guesthouses can provide a more genuine experience. almost 4 years ago

    Hi,

Yea Tune is ok but you have to pay for every little thing you use. A new Hotel in Bukit Bintang which is in the Golden Triangle is Apple Hotel. www.appplehotels.com, Its new and i have just read a blog on it in http://kualalumpurhotelss.wordpress.com/ so feel free to read it. I think it is cheaper and also very new & Clean almost 4 years ago

You should check out Crossroads Hotel Kuala Lumpur, only 5-10 mins from Little India, Petaling street and other KL hot spots. Stayed here last month with my boyfriend, it's a new hotel located directly opposite the Chow Kit monorail station, so its super convenient too move around the city if your only in town for a few days. Large, super clean, well designed rooms and excellent value for money. Loved the Roof-top cafe and my overall stay here!

We visited KL for one week. Although we never went inside, I would suggest that most of these budget backpacker type hotel rooms would be grubby and very basic but you may get lucky and find one run by a clean freak (I doubt it though). We stayed in KL in an 3bed apartment guest house at SetiaWangsa and in our travels saw a lot of these cheap hotel rooms for rent (50 to 150RM per night) in the golden triangle, Chinatown or little India etc. Hotels in KL city centre seem to be either luxury Hilton style or these low grade rooms. Our place was only 10 to 30min (10 to 20RM taxi-taksi - taxi fares are metered and cheap) from KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) and was about 1500RM for a 7 day stay. Try airbnb for a guest house if you want to experience the local culture but want a nice clean and large 2 or 3 bed place with kitchen, washing machine etc 10 months ago

The hotel GEO was brilliant. Stayed there a few times and never disappointed. It's a stroll from Central Market and Petaling Street, train station, and the bus station where there's a free bus to Bukit Bintang and the city centre. Don't get the breakfast as it's not good, and there's a great little coffee bar around the corner with fresh French pastries. There's also a beaut cheap bar (Reggae) up the street with a western menu and great mojitos. Geo is 3-star and about $50 a night for a double room. Hard to beat the location. 7 months ago
