Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to when I was there last year, but I hear Sipadan Island on the east side of Sabah is where its at. Suppose to be one of the top dive areas in the world. Plus while your over there you can go check out Orangutans (if you into that) which are also in Sabah over 7 years ago

I have also heard good things about Sabah, but never been able to visit there. If you are unable to go there (most visitors stay on peninsula) there are still few spots to jump in.

For diving you should stay away from the west coast if you want clear water. On the east coast you have lots of places to choose from.

Perhentian, Redang and Pulau Lang Tengah are all close togheter, and all marine parks. All three of them offer good spots for diving, and have many operators. They offer a range of options for you to choose from - from snorkling to night dives. over 7 years ago

There are variety of destinations in Malaysia for scuba diving which are broken down into two areas, the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo Malaysia with diving around Sabah being its crowning jewel. Scuba diving around Sarawak is fairly new and you’re likely to find some amazing less explored dive sites.
