I am apprehensive about travelling to Morocco with just myself and another girlfriend. I've heard mixed stories. I am contemplating joining a tour, but I would much rather like to travel at our own pace. Any advice on this?

You will be fine. I am female & a another female friend & I went to Morocco 2 years ago for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it! We always felt safe (we are both well traveled & cautious) and we did Marrakech, Fez and a three day trek into the Sahara where we stayed in a Berber tent Village.

Absolutely safe, though normal discretions apply, it being a culture which prizes female discretion. Don't miss Marrakesh, of course, but absolutely do not miss Essaouira, Fes and Chefshaouen.
It is a beautiful land with generous people. But it is a plce where you get what you give, so bring your better attitude ;) over 5 years ago
