Me and my friend are planning a backpacking trip to Asia, starting in January and continuing for approximately 3-4 months (depending on budget/how we feel etc). Some countries we wanted to include are Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, perhaps Burma, Philippines, Indonesia etc etc. I am however concerned about the differences in weather in Nepal compared to the rest of the countries. Seems we'll be backpacking, we won't have much room in our packs for both sweaty heat/beachy stuff AND Nepalese winter (does one need jackets? long sleeves? gloves?). Has anyone had any experience with traveling these countries in the same journey? How did you do it? Does one perhaps buy extra clothing whilst in Nepal, and then sell it? And how should our route be?

    Hi there.
Yes, I started my latest trip to Southeast Asia in December 2016, and because I had a gap I decided to visit Nepal.
It was the beginning of April and even though I needed a jacket, pants and log sleeves to do the treks in Nepal.
But don't worry because you can rent everything there, whether in Katmandu or in Pokara. Everything is very cheap, like US$ 1 - 2,50 /per day that is much better renting those clothes instead of buying it ;)
Good luck with your planning and safe travels! 4 months ago
