Hey Courtney, our Dept. of Conservation's list of "Great Walks" is a good place to start. It's basically a list of the very best walking tracks in New Zealand, in both the North & South Island.
As for which of those walks is best, I couldn't say... but I'm sure many people will attest to the South Island having some of the best scenery in all of New Zealand, so you might wanna start your search there. :) over 8 years agoAnswered by Felicity Weller via Travellr.com
You'll need to consider when you're travelling. NZ's mountainous regions are prone to sudden weather changes, and conditions can be severe in winter. DoC's recommendations (from Felicity) are the best bet if you're not very experienced in back-country travel. over 8 years agoAnswered by Roy Britten via Travellr.com
