Best place in NZ is to ski at the Queenstown slopes. This is family friendly and Queenstown itself has all the amenities and shopping you and family require. The gorge is just spectacular to see as well. over 6 years ago

The best place for beginers (and for kids!) is at Mt Ruapehu, North Island of New Zealand. I would also recommend the Whakapapa ski area at Mt Ruapehu.

hi Ross, best option is Mt Hutt just a hour an a half away from Christchurch. They have great deals for families and are very well equipped for children. You might also want to try Round Hill at Tekapo, which has always had a reputation as an excellent family field, smaller, no big runs etc, great for beginners. check out this site for more information and packages etc for all the South Island ski fields http://www.ski-newzealand.co.nz/ over 6 years ago
