How long is your trip Jaji? And how many of you are travelling? If it's just you, a tour might be a better option. If it's a couple/family, look at campers, especially if it's long term.
I just had a camper for one week in NZ in mid-July, so got very cheap winter rates. Don't forget on top of campervan hire costs, there are fees to stay in Van parks if you want toilets/showers/power - although there are also good 'Free camping' options in NZ. Diesel is cheaper to buy than Unleaded petrol and this makes a difference if you've got a big van. Campers also have kitchens so you can self-cater which is cheaper than eating out all the time. almost 8 years ago
