    Karamea - very top of the West Coast, start of the Heaphy Track, lots of great walks in the bush - visit the Oparara caves

    Punakiki - pancake rocks on the coast road between Westport and Greymouth - wonderful blowholes active there when the westerly swells come up

    Franz Josef and Fox glaciers - highway south of Hokitika - worth the walk into one of these if you have the time (only takes a couple of hours return from the road end)

    Okarito - South of the glaciers on the West Coast - home of the famed White Herons that migrate there each year - also home to Keri Hume, author of Booker Prize winning novel "The Bone People" about 3 years ago

    I have to agree Able Tasmin is lovely and shouldn't be missed, take the boat out and enjoy a nice day tramp back. about 3 years ago
