Is there any merit to taking this route into Pakistan as opposed to just flying?

    Well. The pak chinese border is called khunjrab pass. Its 16000ft. And is just beautiful. Step across the border into a protected wildlife preserve. The whole are is controlled and protected by the army so its perfectly safe. The people are extremely friendly and quite used to tourists. The first town you hit is a hill station called sost. 4 hrs from there is the spectacular hunza valley about 5 years ago
