Couldn't agree more with fussel tier. I lived in Manila fpr a year and had been held at gunpoint in heavy traffic and got my mobile phone stolen. It's not exactly unsafe, but you need to take necessary precautions when you go there.

Davao on the other hand, is a little like Manila, sans the heavy traffic and the filth. And the water here is so clean, you can drink it straight from the tap. And there's this little island just a five minute boat ride away that boasts of great beaches. over 5 years ago

For city travel, Manila's Greenbelt area. It is pretty safe there as long as you stay within the area. Many security guards around for protection and help. Food is inexpensive and good. They love to eat pork and if you're a fan, then you will really enjoy their local food. over 5 years ago

Wake boarding in Camarines Sur, surfing in Borongan, Eastern Samar, bar hopping in the Makati business district, scuba diving for sunken ships in Clark, snorkeling in Boracay islands, pearl farm in Davao, underwater caves in Palawan. It totally depends on what you want to do. over 5 years ago

    F. Tier must have had a very bad experience in Manila but should not be gauge for stating the place is safe or unsafe. There are more dangerous places and filthier places elsewhere. Having said that, there many other places worth visiting othet than Manila in the Philippines depending on your preferred activities: nature tripping, diving and adventure, cultural, entertainment, etc. You name it, Philuppines has it. over 5 years ago
